TAKING off on two wheels, Arthur Muffett celebrated his 94th birthday on the back of a Honda Goldwing motorbike.
The resident of Dilwyn and churchwarden was taken for a birthday burn by neighbour David Potts.
Protected by the Bishop of Hereford's crash helmet, he was driven to Kington golf course where he was joined by friends for coffee and a chance to look around one of his old sporting haunts. Mr Muffett has been playing golf for 75 years, first teeing off at the age of 19.
The ride was purchased at a church charity auction by friend and neighbour Mrs Hawksley.
"Arthur was delighted with it," she said. "He had been looking forward to it for months. He's very active, more like a 70-year-old than a man in his 90s."
His golf might be limited to the putting green but the retired insurance claims manager still drives, except when it's so nice he goes by bike!
