TWO cars were in collision in Monkland last night (Tuesday January 22).
A Fiat Punto and Peugot 306 were in collision on the A44 at around 7.35pm.
Dr David Houston, a volunteer with Mars Accident Rescue Service who attended the accident, said a male driver of the Punto sustained arm injuries and taken to Hereford County Hospital.
He added that a female front-seat passenger of the Punto sustained serious leg and facial injuries.
She was cut free from vehicle and received emergency treatment on scene by paramedics and MARS before being taken to Hereford County Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, he said.
"Her injuries caused difficulty with her extrication from the vehicle but the incident was superbly managed by the on-scene fire and ambulance personnel," added Dr Houston.
Both vehicles were significantly damaged.
